Jerry and Erma Jean McCown celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Friday, April 23. The couple was married at the Darlington Reformed Presbyterian Church in Darlington, Pa. Jerry worked for National Cash Register Corporation (NCR) for 35 years, and Erma Jean worked at the former Hagberg's Christian Bookstore and then at BonTon. After retiring, they worked seasonally in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, for five years.
They have been active members of Bethlehem Covenant Church (now Pleasant Community Church) for more than 45 years. They have two children, Jon and Dr. Nancy McCown of Dillsburg, Pa., and Laura and Bob Kammel of Omaha, Neb. Jerry and Erma Jean have six grandchildren, Stephen, Kate and Christi McCown, and Avery (deceased), and Choteau and Natalie Kammel.
The couple enjoys traveling, visiting their family, volunteering with Operation Christmas Child, and their cats.
