On March 13, Brendan Scott Lyle was inducted into Mercyhurst College's Ambassadors Club, a service and leadership organization. Approximately 180 students began the pledge process in the fall, and 27 were inducted as new members after successfully completing the tasks and requirements. Lyle, an intelligence studies major at Mercyhurst's Erie campus, has earned a 4.0 grade average for the fall and winter terms at Mercyhurst. He is the son of Gregory and Pamela Bonace Lyle of Warren.

Two local students have been accepted at Gannon University, Erie, and will begin classes in the fall 2011 semester.

Trevor T. Potts of Russell is the son of Jennifer Potts and is a student at Eisenhower High School. He will pursue a physical therapy major at Gannon. Potts is a member of National Honor Society and the National Society of Leadership and Success.
Lauren K. Sherry of Sugar Grove is the daughter of Jeffrey and Diana Sherry and is a student at Eisenhower High School. She will pursue a nursing major at Gannon. She is on the honor roll and is captain of the soccer, basketball and softball teams. She is president of Students Against Destructive Decisions, Key Club treasurer and secretary of student government. She was named Most Athletic for the Class of 2011 and is president of Sports Support varsity club.
