GILBERT MEAD

Gilbert A. "Gib" Mead, 84, of Main Street, Russell, Pa., passed away on Sun-day, April 29, 2012 at War-ren General Hospital.

Gib was born October 18, 1927, in Warren, Pa., the son of the late Gary and Mildred Marlett Mead. He was in the US Navy, serv-ing in the Pacific Theatre and Korean War. He worked at the Warren State Hospital for many years from which he retired, in the paint shop and then the maintenance foreman. Gib was one of the founders of the Kinzua Heritage Fes-tival on Fox Hill Road. He was also very active in the YMCA and was the founder of the Fitness Center. He enjoyed the outdoors, cross-country skiing and snow shoeing.

He is survived by his son, Scott Mead, Akeley, Pa.; three grandchildren, Nakia Mead and his wife Sabrina, Akeley, Pa., Nokomis Stanton, and her husband Dave, Russell, Pa. and Tyler Abbott, Youngs-ville, Pa.; one great- grandchild, Hialeah Stan-ton; two sisters, June Hale, Akeley, Pa. and Jeannette Siffen, and her husband Don, Harrisburg, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death on August 2, 2004, by his wife, Nanette Sulo Mead; brother, Ray Mead; sister, Joyce Mead, and spe-cial friend, Ginny Scott.

Friends will be received at the Peterson - Blick Fun-eral Home, Inc., 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, on Wednesday, May 2, from, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A funeral ser-vice will be held at the Ca-ble Hollow Community Church, 3157 Cable Hol-low Road, Russell, on Thursday, May 3 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Allan Jones, Pas-tor, officiating.

Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Russell, Pa.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Warren County YMCA, 212 Lexington Ave., War-ren, Pa 16365.
