A student award fund at Holy Redeemer Church was established in 1999 to recognize students who had given much of their time and talents to the parish during their four years of high school. The award recipients had to have regular attendance at Sunday liturgies, plans for attending a school of higher learning, regular attendance and a good attitude in religious education, and had to have provided service to the parish beyond that required as part of their religious education program.
This scholarship fund grew over the years with the help of a generous yearly donation by one of the parishioners. In the 14 years since the award was established, 37 scholarships have been given to youths of the parish. The amount of the awards have varied over the years depending on the amount of interest available from the fund, the number of qualified recipients, and their degree of involvement within the parish.
This year the award recipients were Kayla Bullock, daughter of Robert and Melissa Bullock; Nicole McClement, daughter of Ron and Kim McClement; Kelsey Morrison, daughter of Karl and Kathy Morrison; Bernadette Nollinger, daughter of Denny and Marcella Nollinger; and Jessica Schumann, daughter of Mark and Paige Schumann.
