Accidental drowning reported near Kinzua Beach

Times Observer photo by Brian Ferry Kinzua Beach in northeastern Warren County was the scene of an accidental drowning Wednesday evening.

A Warren County coroner confirmed late Wednesday that a New York man drowned while swimming in the water off Kinzua Beach on the Allegheny Reservoir.

The man, described as a 24-year-old from the Buffalo area, was with a group at the time of the incident.

According to Ken McCorrison, Warren County public safety director, several agencies were alerted to a reported drowning after 6 p.m. and included Glade, City of Warren, U.S. Forest Service, Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, Warren County Public Safety, Clarendon, Chautauqua County Dive Team and McKean County Dive Team.

Tony Chimenti, county chief deputy coroner, responded to the scene Wednesday evening. He pronounced the man dead, and cited the drowning as accidental.
