Marine Corps birthday

The General Joseph Pendleton Detachment of the Marine Corps League is celebrating the 242nd birthday of the Marine Corps from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, November 11, at the Marine Corps League home at 2355 Jackson Ave. Marines and guests are invited.

Retirement program

The Warren Public Library is offering a series of Retirement Workshops with guest speaker Patrick W. Hesch. The third program in a series of four will be held in the Slater Room on Tuesday, Nov. 21, at 6 p.m. The remaining program will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 19, at 1 p.m.

These hands-on workshops will include handouts and question and answer sessions. The topics to be covered in the November 21st session will be retirement insurance product reviews which include health insurance, Medicare, long term care, final expenses, life insurance and safe money. Patrick will provide a brief overview of each product and their uses. This is a free program and open to the public.

The New Joy of Coloring

Adult coloring is surging in popularity. It is engaging, relaxing and helps combat stress. Join fellow adults of all ages in an afternoon of coloring and conversation at Warren Public Library. Prisma color pencils, crayons and coloring pages will be provided for this free class as will light refreshments and beverages.

This program will be held in the Slater Room on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Attendees may choose to drop in at their convenience between 1:30 and 7:30 p.m.

Gift Basket Bingo

Gift Basket Bingo, presented by Basket Babe, and sponsored by Cambridge Warren, LLC, will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at Eagles Club, 2101 Pennsylvania Ave. E.

In loving memory of Violet A. Lawson, the fundraiser will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).

Tickets are on sale through Nov. 20 for $25 each by calling Elizabeth at (814) 230-4923, or visiting Facebook at www.facebook.com/BasketBabe2017. Tickets will be available at the door for $30 each.

There will be Bingo games, door prizes, a grand prize raffle, a giveaway and more.

ReStore donations

Habitat for Humanity of Warren County’s ReStore is operating from the basement of Warren Antiques & Giftware, located at 306 Second Avenue in Warren. The store is open for donations and purchases Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Donating large items such as appliances and furniture should be prearranged with Habitat for Humanity; other home improvement items may be donated during normal business hours. Bridge results

Tuesday afternoon at the Allegheny Community Center, Diane Callahan was first followed by Phyllis Broadbent. At the Woman’s Club Thursday afternoon, Laurie Curren and Tana Fegely were first and second. Laurie Curren and Connie Lucia were first and second Thursday evening at the library.

AARP party

Local chapter 4297 of the AARP will meet at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, at the Eagles Club for its annual Christmas party. Reservations are needed to attend. Call 723-7814 to make a reservation. Bring two wrapped gifts for prizes . Attendees are responsible for their own lunch.

Fire services meeting

Warren County Fire Services will meet on Thursday, Nov. 9, at Glade Fire Hall. Dinner is at 7 p.m.

PARSE meeting

The Barton-Schuler Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of Retired State Employees will meet at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, t Perkins Restaurant on Ludlow Street in Warren. Note the time change.
