Community Foundation online scholarship application
The Community Foundation of Warren County online scholarship application is not available… yet. According to Executive Director John Lasher modifications to the application for the 2018-2019 academic year are not complete. “Based on our experience last year we felt we needed to make some changes. These changes will simplify the process for the students and for us at the Foundation,” Lasher noted.
The Foundation staff expects to launch the updated online scholarship application in late January or early February. “We are coordinating with the Guidance Offices at all the county high schools; and will publish an announcement when the application is available.” Lasher commented. “The schools will have information to help students fill out the application. We will also provide support from the Foundation office.”
When available the online scholarship application will be on the Community Foundation website; cfowc.org.

Art in the Wilds 2018 Call for Artists
The12th Annual Art in the Wilds is returning to Kane this summer and fine artists and craftsmen are invited to view the show rules and guidelines at http://www.artinthewilds.org. This outdoor, juried fine arts event will be held on Saturday, June 23, and Sunday, June 24, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day in Evergreen Park, right in the center of town.
The 2017 show attracted almost 6,000 visitors who purchased more than 1,000 separate original art pieces for recorded total sales of over $60,000. This year ,over 6,500 visitors are expected, and the plan is to keep the number of artists below 40. This ensures a favorable ratio of buyers to artists.
Volunteers provide booth sitting, answer questions and help with set up and take down.
The five-county high school student art exhibition encourages future sustainability of the show.
It’s alumni weekend in Kane – all local high school classes celebrate at the same time every five years so there is an additional crowd of buyers this year.
Fine art, high quality fine craft, limited high quality prints and photography are accepted. The application deadline is March 1. Requirements include five digital images of recent work, one of your display and one of you creating your work, a copy of your artist statement and a description of your art process. These will be reviewed by three outside professional jurists and you will be notified by March 24th of your acceptance.
You must provide a white tent with four sides that can be securely anchored to the ground and secured at night. The price of 10′-by-10′ spaces is $100 and the jury fee at $20.
Funding which is used in advertising and promotion to bring patrons to buy your art is received from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and the Kane Community Development Foundation, along with individual and corporate sponsorships such as the UPMC Kane hospital.

Call the library at 723-4650 for the exact title of this and other movies in this series as the library’s movie license does not permit listing the titles of movies outside the library.
