William Sweigart
William Richard “Dick” Sweigart, 75, formerly of North Warren, PA, passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2017, in Jonesborough, TN.
Dick was born July 15, 1941 in Lancaster, PA, son of the late William Raymond and Margaret (Yoder) Sweigart.
Dick was a 1959 graduate of Warren High School. He served three tours in Vietnam with the U.S. Air Force. In his younger days, he was a blacksmith at Dorcon; then later he worked for PDM Steel in purchasing. Dick worked for Betts Industries for 26 years from which he retired.
He was a member of the North Warren Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder, buildings and grounds committee, and a youth group advisor. He was also a member of the North Star Lodge #241 Free and Accepted Masons, and a former member of the Farrah Grotto, Lakewood Rod and Gun Club, and the Moose Lodge #109.
He is survived by his wife, Jean E. Quackenbush Sweigart, whom he married on July 2, 1966; three children, Mark R. Sweigart, wife Tammy of Jonesborough, TN, Scott W. Sweigart, wife Gina, of Warren, PA, and Heidi M. Sweigart Marshall, husband Lee, of Jamestown, NY; one sister, Emmy Jo Geel, of Ellington, ME; six grandchildren, Britney, Matthew, Jessica, and Mackenzie Sweigart, Hope and David Marshall; one great granddaughter, Suri Hicks.
Friends will be received at the North Warren Presbyterian Church, 200 S. State St., N. Warren, PA, on Friday April 21 from 6:008:00 p.m. and Saturday, April 22, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m., at which time a memorial service will be held with The Rev. Burfoot S. Ward, III, pastor, officiating.
Interment will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Russell.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the North Warren Presbyterian Church.
