Carla Gay

Carla Mae Gay, 76, of 310 Liberty Street, Warren, passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2017, at St. Vincent Health Center, of Erie, PA. Carla Mae was born May 18, 1941, in Warren, PA, the daughter of Carleton and Marion (Swain) Gay.

A lifelong area resident, she was a 1959 graduate of Warren High School and attended W.C.A. Hospital School of Nursing and Jamestown Community College.

Carla Mae was the owner-operator of the Pounds-A-Weigh Figure Salon for many years, and also worked at the Warren Manor for 16 years–never missing a day, or being late.

She was a member and deacon of First Presbyterian Church in Warren. She was also a member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club; Warren County Historical Society; Warren County Humane Society; Youngstown, NY Historical Society; and Warren Senior Center. She was a former member of the DAR; a past matron of the Order of the Amaranth; Allegheny Outdoor Club; and the Warren County Genealogical Society.

She is survived by two nieces, Leslie Johnson, of Mobile, AL, and Laurie Bucholz, of Fayetteville, TN; two great-nephews, Eric Phillips, of AL, and Ben Johnson, of Vancouver, Canada; and several cousins, including Eric Gay, of OH, and David Gay, of AZ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death on August 30, 1964, by a half-brother, Frank Carleton Gay.

The funeral will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 300 Market Street, Warren, PA, on Tuesday, July 25, at 2 p.m., with The Rev. Rebecca Taylor, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
