Charles Gray

Charles J. Gray, 92, of Russell, PA., died peacefully at his residence, Friday, July 28, 2017. He was born March 21, 1925 in Warren, PA., to the late Charles and Nevada Smeed Gray. Chuck was a lifelong resident of Warren and Russell, PA. He was employed for 35 years with the Warren State Hospital in the activities department, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Russell Volunteer Fire Department where he enjoyed volunteering, a devoted member of St. Joseph R.C. Church and Warren Council of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Member.

He enjoyed fishing, hiking, and football. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He is lovingly remembered as always being a hard worker and a man devoted to his faith.

Chuck is survived by his 3 children – James Gray of Scandia, PA., John Gray and wife, Dawn of Meadville, PA., Mary Elizabeth Anderson of Russell, PA., 4 Grandchildren -Thomas Anderson, Tasha Miller, Ashley Conway, Lexi Anna Gray.

Several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Concetta “Connie” D’Urso Gray whom he married on July 2, 1955 who died May 3, 1995, 1 Daughter – Anna Mae Gray who died September 22, 1993 and 1 Brother – Bernard L. Gray.

Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA., on Monday, July 31, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. 4th Degree members of the Warren Knights of Columbus will stand as honor guard during the evening visitation hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph R.C. Church, 600 Pennsylvania Avenue West, Warren, PA., with Fr. Richard J. Tomasone, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph R.C. Cemetery.
