George Ross

George P. Ross, 82, of Corry, PA and Clymer, NY was called home on Monday, October 30, 2017 at Heritage Village in Gerry, NY.
He was born February 12, 1935 in Corry, PA, a son to the late J. Clifford Ross and Avis (Fish) Ross Selburg. George enlisted in the US Navy in 1952 and retired in 1972 after 20 years of service. George was a butcher at the A&P Store in Corry and after retiring from the Navy he worked at Corry Foam which is now Corry Foamex as a maintenance electrician. He was a member of the Corry Moose Lodge #98 where he was the governor for a short while; he was a member of the ritual team and also received his Pilgrim degree. George was also a lifetime member of the Corry VFW. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed calling bingo, playing pool, coaching little league and Junior Bowlers. George was known in Clymer, NY as “the man who walked the dog”; He would wave to everyone who went by and they always waved back.
George is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Roxana M. Hansen Ross, whom he married July 27, 1957 in Corry, PA; 2 daughters, Teresa J. Ross and her companion, Bill “Ski” Maciejewski, of Clovis, NM and Phyllis Ross Reese Armstrong and her husband, Richard of Pittsfield, PA; 2 sisters, Marion Ross Steuart of Corry, PA and Lucille Ross Hansen and her husband Victor of Corry, PA; a brother, Charles Ross and his wife, Marti of Vermillion, Kansas; 4 granddaughters, Maria Reese Moorehead and her husband Eric of Franklin, PA, Heather Reese and her companion, Anthony Peru, of Jamestown, NY, Melissa Reese Epps and her husband Alonzo of Hampton, VA and Jennifer Holland Cole and her husband Anthony of Isanti, Minnesota; 2 grandsons, Matthew Ohler and his wife, Christina of Kansas and David Reese of Clymer, NY; 8 great-grandchildren, Tristin, Trinity, Chase, Emily, Taylor, Aiden, Fox, Sarah and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his stepfather, Carl Selburg and a brother in law, Sidney Steuart.
Friends and family are welcome to call on November 25, 2017 at the Nelson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 314 North Main Street, Youngsville, PA 16371, from 11:301:00PM at which time a memorial service will be held there.
