Jean Tickner

Jean C. Tickner was born on June 8, 1946, in Warren. She was the daughter of Willis and Margaret (Farnsworth) Tickner and the sister of Charles and John, all of whom have passed. She is survived by her niece, Gwen A. Carmack (Columbus, OH) and her nephew, John Mark Tickner (Erie, PA).

Jean graduated from Warren Area High School in 1964. She received a Bachelors in Arts from Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA, and a Masters in Education from the University of Buffalo, NY. She was included in the “Who’s Who, Young Professional Woman in America.”

She was employed as a sixth grade teacher for the Iroquois Central Schools in Elma, NY. She was an Executive Director for the Young Women’s Christian Association in Warren, PA, a Lay Professional (Pastoral Assistant) at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Spring Hill, FL., and a Program Supervisor for Community Care of the Elderly in Brooksville, FL. Over a period of several summers, she also worked as a Summer Schools Cashier at the Chautauqua Institute in Chautauqua, NY.

She was very active in several Community Activities. In Warren, she was an active member of the First Lutheran Church, President of the Zonta Club, a Board Member for the Association of College Women and a Board Member of the American Cancer Society. In Florida, she was an active member at Holy Cross, Secretary of the Founding Board for the Hernando County Family YMCA and an enthusiastic member of the local Red Hat Society.

Services will be held on Monday, Dec. 10, at 11:30 a.m. at Warren County Memorial Park.
