Jamestown collapse continues
JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A season of so much promise is quickly fading to black for the Jamestown Jammers. With just four games left on the schedule, Jamestown (39-32) dropped its third straight game Wednesday, losing to Batavia 10-5 in the season’s home finale. In all, Jamestown has gone just 2-8 in its most recent ten games — a stretch that has seen them go from division leaders, to wild card leaders, to out of the playoff picture altogether. All is not lost as Jamestown has four games — one at Batavia and three at Mahoning Valley — to try to back its way in the playoffs. Wednesday was the team’s latest disappointment. The Muckdogs, the current leader’s of the New York-Penn League Pinckney Division, jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after an RBI single by Victor Sanchez. The Jammers rallied to tie the game at 1-1 in the second thanks to a solo homer by Ryan Fisher. Jamestown went ahead in the third inning by scoring two more runs. With two out, Daniel Black singled.
