Welcome back to another exciting fantasy football season. This year in the WTO Laid Back League, there are 14 teams. Next week we will break down all the participants and their teams after this weekend’s draft. As the draft approaches, I find myself in a strange position as I am not the defending league champ for the first time ever. Draft position does matter and a recent study of league champions concluded your odds of winning a championship are definitely impacted by draft slot placement. This year I am hoping the fantasy gods don’t deal me a second-to-last draft slot as that is tough to overcome and statistically the second worst draft slot (only dead last is worse), which in both cases have less than a 6 percent chance of winning a 12-team league championship. The best slot has been first with over 10 percent of championships won coming from this slot. Picking 2nd and 8th are the next two highest slots where championships have been won over 9 percent of the tim.
