Keep your credit cards sorted out and clearly identified if you will be wagering large sums.

SOS - The School Board & Administration commenting/assessing educational issues is like Shell oil providing independent updates on the Gulf Oil spill. The spin is constantly there and desire for a public cloak of order and uananimity is constant and unceasing. Well I have my 3 credit course at 2pm in Planning and then I'm off to the Turning Stone Casino to place my over under/bet on how many times we'll tear up the pavement at Beaty in a 5 year period.

Brazil, you were 100% right when you said most of our crisis' are self inflicted.

I get really tired of hearing what waec should have been. At the end of the day, it wasn't built for that. The community did not want that, the board was changed over. Plans changed. The building was built to house 750 kids but will instead house 950. At 750 there were concerns because of being at capacity, last year at 820 kids it was a sardine can, what is 950 kids going to be like? They claim they are ready to make a smooth transition and everything will be great. Uh, did the wave a wand and expand the building? No...

Well Pulled Pork, I could have definitely bitten into that idea. Of course as you look around, School Districts all over are investing 20 million dollars into 80 year old buildings

WAEC should have been a k-8 to begin with and they could have eliminated Beaty and South Street many years and dollars ago.

I would have to award the most ridiculous expenditure to maintaining four high schools in a dwindling student population and dwindling economy (tax dollars).

Re: paving. I was in town a few weeks ago and went by there. The ripped up pavement that had just been put down made me shake my head. Most reputable Boards have a 3 year or 5 year that wouldn't allow for those sorts of mistakes. This Board however operates under a form of continual crisis management. The problem is most of the crisis' are self inflicted

The sinking of tens of millions of dollars into Beaty, the School Board President's personal pet project, will go down in history as one of the most ridiculous expenditures in School District history and believe me there is an incredible amount of competition for that award. I'm reminded of a previous Board that months before WAEC was about to open, considered making it a middle school instead of an elementary school. There was a chance to eliminate Beaty through a joint consolidation of Warren & Sheffield but this Board, never one to let its reach exceed its grasp, let creativity and innovative thought slip away again.

The building will, obviously, be very nice for the students. However: "Walkers and students who are not driven onto the school grounds will enter through the door at the north - Third Avenue - end of the building on the creek side." Really? Who's brilliant idea was that? Perfectly good main front door, but no, let's send them around the corner, over by the creek. Also curious as to why the geothermal wells couldn't cool the whole building instead of just the office area. Does it really take 16 wells to heat/cool just the offices?

Just went passed Beaty, it looks like a mess! Are they going to even be able to open on the first day of school?

When is the north going to realize more consideration has been put into the planning of Beaty than the elementary addition at ike?

You have to love all the paving done last year with the new exit at the foot of Jackson ave and tore it all back out this year at a cost of how many thousands of dollars wasted? That cost I say should come out of the school boards pockets not ours! What idiot made those discussions? We the people of this town should be ticked off and make those that made this blunder pay for it! That should be a crime! What a waste!
