September 27, 2013
Associated Press

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Police say a man visiting his grandmother was shot and killed in the backyard of a south Philadelphia home.

Officers were called to the address at about 10 p.m. Thursday and found the 27-year-old victim on the ground.

He was rushed to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was pronounced dead minutes later.

Chief Inspector Scott Small told WCAU-TV that witnesses saw the victim talking with several men in the fenced-in backyard before the shooting.

He said police were working on a motive and examining evidence to try to identify any suspects.

Homicide investigators are also investigating the death of a man shot and killed while riding his bicycle in west Philadelphia.
