SANDY LAKE, Pa. (AP) — Crews have found a man's body in a northwestern Pennsylvania lake, where he was canoeing with two friends when their craft capsized last week.
An autopsy was conducted Thursday on the body of 29-year-old Jason Mathieson, but results were not immediately available from the Mercer County coroner's office on Friday.
Mathieson is from Sandy Lake, named for the body of water where he was canoeing about 70 miles north of Pittsburgh.
Two friends told authorities the canoe capsized about 5 a.m. Sept. 27 and they were able to swim to safety. Mathieson went under, however, and his body wasn't located until 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, when it was found by crews in water about 20 feet deep.
