PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Officials at national parks in Pennsylvania say the parks have reopened or are awaiting word on when they will be open again following resolution of the budget battle that partially closed the federal government.
At Gettysburg National Park in central Pennsylvania, officials said barricades had been removed Thursday and the visitor center had reopened, and the park had resumed normal operations.
At Independence National Historical Park, officials were waiting for word on when the Philadelphia park that includes Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell would reopen.
Nicole Fellmeth, who's part of the interpretation and education staff at the park, said staff members had been told to report for duty and were waiting for word from supervisors.
She said "We're here printing out tickets as we speak."
