MARCUS HOOK, Pa. (AP) — A Philadelphia-area mayor has been convicted of all counts in connection with a drunken, armed encounter with a 20-year-old man at his home in February.
The Delaware County Daily Times (http://bit.ly/18bgivi ) reports 39-year-old Marcus Hook Mayor James "Jay" Schiliro was convicted Friday by a jury that deliberated about three hours on charges including providing alcohol to a minor, official oppression, reckless endangerment and false imprisonment. The Republican dropped his bid for re-election after his March arrest, but has vowed to finish his term. He declined comment after his conviction.
Authorities allege Schiliro gave the man three glasses of wine before asking the young man to perform a sex act and becoming distraught when he refused.
Schiliro then produced three different guns, threatened suicide and wouldn't let the young man leave for a time.
