2 dead in accident on snowy western Pa. roadway

ALTOONA, Pa. (AP) — Two people are dead after a vehicle collision on a snow-covered road near Altoona.

The Altoona Mirror reported ( ) Sunday that SUV driver Scott Francis Sanders and his passenger Danyelle Nichole Dean were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police tell the paper the 53-year-old Sanders was driving too fast for conditions when he lost control and slid into the path of an oncoming pickup truck.

The accident late Saturday morning also caused severe injuries to the driver of the pickup truck, 47-year-old William Roy Chappell Jr. of Portage.

Sanders and Dean were both residents of Altoona.
