Pa. fire that killed man, 2 boys not suspicious

February 11, 2014
Associated Press

ERIE, Pa. (AP) — State police fire marshals are still trying to find out what started an early morning blaze in a northwestern Pennsylvania home that killed a man and his two young grandsons, but they say it doesn't appear to be suspicious in origin.

Fire crews spent more than four hours fighting the flames Sunday after removing the bodies of 68-year-old John Amacher, 4-year-old Jacob Waldinger and 3-year-old Aidan Waldinger.

Chief Jim Hawryliw of Fairfield Hose Co. told the Erie Times-News (http://bit.ly/LRzCVQ ) that firefighters made "a very valiant effort" to get inside and find the victims after it was reported that someone might be trapped inside. He said the tragedy "has affected everyone emotionally."

Two other people who lived in the home weren't inside at the time of the fire.
