Times Observer

In a story regarding Warren County's involvement in a lawsuit concerning oil and gas development on the Allegheny National Forest in the Aug. 4 edition of the Times Observer, it was incorrectly reported that some of the groups involved in the suit joined as intervenors. All of the parties involved are original plaintiffs and defendants. Also, a National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is not mandated by a recent court settlement. According to the settlement, the U.S. Forest Service shall undertake the appropriate level of NEPA analysis before giving access to the surface for oil and gas projects. An EIS is one of three possible analyses.
