PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Gov. Tom Corbett is heading to his second fundraiser for the Republican Governors Association in four days as New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says he intends to work hard to re-elect Corbett, despite the polls.
The closed-door Monday evening fundraiser is at the Union League of Philadelphia. The men headlined a Pittsburgh fundraiser Friday.
Corbett is trailing badly in the polls to Democrat Tom Wolf and is relying heavily on the Republican Governors Association for campaign cash.
Christie is the association's chairman and tells reporters that he doesn't determine who to support based on polls. He says polls can change and that Corbett merits his support based on his record.
The association is Corbett's biggest campaign donor, already giving $1.8 million for his re-election campaign.
The election is Nov. 4.
