AUBURN, N.Y. - Jamestown stayed a game behind Williamsport in the Pinckney Division of the New-York Penn League after a 2-1 loss to Auburn on Sunday.
It was a tough road loss as Auburn scored twice in the bottom of the ninth off Jammers' reliever Jordan Conley to spoil a combined four-hitter through the first eight innings.
Alan Oaks threw the first four for Jamestown (20-15), allowing just one hit and no walks, striking out two. Three relievers held Auburn scoreless until the ninth.
Auburn (15-22) hosts Jamestown, which scored its only run in the first after a leadoff double by Daniel Black, again on Monday before the Jammers return to Diethrick Park to host Mahoning Valley on Wednesday.
