HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Gov. Tom Corbett is airing his first TV campaign ads since the primary election settled the race to be his Democratic Party competitor in the Nov. 4 general election.
The ads began airing statewide Tuesday, with a focus on Pennsylvania's economic performance under him.
Corbett, a Republican, has four months to turn around a huge polling deficit. Leading him is Democrat Tom Wolf, a York County businessman who served briefly in former Gov. Ed Rendell's cabinet and blew away the four-way Democratic Party primary field with an effective TV ad campaign.
Boosting Wolf was $10 million of his own money that helped him outspend his primary rivals. As of June 9, Corbett reported having $4.8 million in his campaign account. Wolf reported $3.1 million.
