1 hurt in experimental plane crash in Pennsylvania

July 25, 2014
Associated Press

GROVE CITY, Pa. (AP) — An emergency dispatcher says a man has been flown to a Pittsburgh hospital after crashing his homemade, experimental aircraft at a small airport in western Pennsylvania.

Mercer County dispatchers say the incident was reported after 11 a.m. Friday at Grove City Airport in Mercer County, about 45 miles north of Pittsburgh.

Officials at the airport did not immediately return a call for comment.

But a 911 dispatch supervisor says the man's injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

Investigators have yet to release the victim's name, but the dispatcher says he will be treated at UPMC Presbyterian hospital.
