The library was originally located in a room behind Emerson's Barbershop, and stocked with donated materials from the community.

In 1930, an oil and lumber baron named Freeman Hertzel agreed to erect and equip a modern fireproof building for $25,000, while property at 197 Main St. was donated by local businessman, Gordon Norton.

Then in 2006, the library was re-dedicated after the construction of a 2,000 square foot addition was completed.
