The Warren Public Library Friends organized a beautification work bee at the library on Saturday, April 28. They pruned shrubs, bushes and hedges, pulled weeds, cleaned and edged sidewalks and curbs, removed dead shrubs, limbs and plants, and picked up trash around the library's grounds and piled it at the curb for removal during the city's annual spring clean-up sweep.
Participants included Friends members Andy Yurick and Phyllis Wright, volunteers Bill and DeeDee Tucker, and nine eighth grade Beaty students from Mrs. Yurick's science class: Jacob Bailey, Elise Heeter, Dakota Hetrick, Jason Hussey, Kathryn Lobdell, Lizzy Marsh, Summer Rosendahl, Angela Watford and Sierra Wees.
During May, the sidewalk edging will be completed, the urns will be planted with annuals, and the flower beds will be cleaned, weeded and planted. Interested volunteers should leave their name at the circulation desk, or call the library at 723-4650.
