Whites in Concert
The community is invited to attend morning worship at Youngsville First United Methodist where Rex and Priscilla White and Yvonne Shook will be in concert on Sunday, June 10, at 9 a.m. The group is from Erie and performs in the Warren area on a regular basis. The Whites play a mixture of old-fashioned hymns and more contemporary choruses, as they present their own testimonies and share what God has placed on their hearts. Everyone is welcome.
Pastor Fischer honored

Pictured are Patrick Black, president of the Parish Council, presenting a gift Bible and a book of quotations of John Paul II to Michael Wolfe of the Community of St. Paul. Michael spoke for the community on his experience serving as a missionary in the Dominican Republic for the last five years making the connection with Pentecost Sunday. He will begin his studies for the priesthood for the Diocese of Milwaukee this fall.
Children will learn and enjoy the Vacation Bible School at the Otterbein United Methodist in Pittsfield, where they will land on Lava Lava Island - where Jesus’ love flows.
The Garland Community Center at 204 Extension Rd., Garland, will host a Consignment Auction on Sunday, June 10. Doors will open at noon and the auction begins 1 p.m.
Need money? Have something to sell? This will be their last auction of the season, so hoe out that garage, attic, or spare room and put some money in your pocket. If you own it they will attempt to sell it. With the exception of used clothing, housewares, tools, lawn and garden equipment, ATVs, boats, automobiles, furniture, appliances, antiques, collectibles, etc are all accepted.

BVSP Season Highlights
The Brokenstraw Valley Swimming Pool has released the tentative schedule for the 2012 summer season.
Programs are being planned for Sports Camp, Arts and Crafts, Corn Hole Tournaments and the June 14 World's Largest Swimming Lesson.
The pool will officially open on Saturday, June 9. Wi-Fi will be available. The pool will offer swimercise classes and swim lessons - Session 1 start June 18, session 2 starts July 9 and session 3 starts July 23. Special events will include the annual Luau on June 21, a band on June 28, the movie Finding Nemo on July 12, a band on July 26, the movie Titanic on Aug. 2, a canoe/kayak safety course on Aug. 13-14, a Community swim on Aug. 16, and Thank you Tuesdays from June 12 through Aug.14. The Pool will close on Aug. 18 for the season. Before it is totally drained for the season, they will host the annual Doggie Swim on Aug. 25.
New this year will be the addition of Yoga, Stretch and Splash, presented by Yoga instructor Nadine Luvison Westover. A number of classes will be offered, including Mommy and Me, Poolside Yoga, and Saturday Morning Stretch. Advance registration is required. Class of '60
The Youngsville High School Class of 1960 will host a reunion luncheon on Tuesday, July 10 at noon in the YHS cafeteria for graduating classes that are 50 years or older. The Class of 1961 is invited as guests. Meat and drinks will be provided. Bring a dish to pass.

Surprise for Pastor Fisher
On Sunday, June 3, the members of Berea, Pittsfield, and Saron, Youngsville Lutheran Churches surprised Pastor Mark Fischer with a 25th Jubilee Celebration commemorating his 25 years of service as a Lutheran pastor.
Pastor Mark was surprised with his wife, Vicki, and daughters, Kiley and Christina, present along with other family members and friends in attendance including Kirk Moore, a friend from Somerset, Pa.
Pastor Fischer's sister and brother-in-law from Kennerdell, Pa. and Vicki's family from Oil City and Erie attended as his best friend, Pastor William Henry, and his family from New Brighton, Pa., who was the presiding liturgist and preacher for the day. Pastor Mark concluded the service with Holy Communion. The prelude 'Make Me An Instrument of Your Peace' was performed by The Heavenly Ding-a-Lings Bell Choir. The Senior Choir dedicated the anthem 'Borning Cry' to the Pastor. The Pastor's daughter, Kiley, played the Offertory Anthem 'Ashoken Farewell' on her violin.
The surprise celebration concluded with a dinner in Franzen Hall for all attendees. Pastor Mark was recognized for his 10 years of service in the Brokenstraw Lutheran Parish with a gift of money, cards and well wishes.
Pastor Mark summed up the day, "One of the best days of my life!"
Vacation Bible School Otterbein United Methodist in Pittsfield invites children to Lava Lava Island - where Jesus' love flows. This year the church is overflowing with excitement as we explore Lava Lava Island. The Vacation Bible School program will provide fun, memorable Bible - learning activities for kids of all ages. Each day kids will sing catchy songs, play teamwork - building games, nibble Tropical Treats, take on a Daily Challenge to let Jesus' love flow home, experience Bible adventures and create Lava Lava crafts they'll take home.
Friday we'll conclude the VBS program with a party at the Brokenstraw Valley Pool starting at 6 p.m. The pool party is open to the public free of charge and food will be provided. Lava Lava Island begins on Monday, June 11 a nd continues through Friday, June 15. Meet at the Otterbein United Methodist Church at 258 Dalrymple St., Pittsfield, at 6 p.m. each day until 8:30 p.m.

The Otterbein United Methodist Church will be holding the second annual Miles for Missions 5K Walk/Run on Saturday, June 23 starting at the church in Pittsfield. The course is a flat trail on quiet country roads and is perfect for walkers and runners on all ages. T-shirts will be guaranteed to all pre-registered entrants. Some T-shirts will be available on the day of the race.
The registration fee is $15 if received by June 14. Late registrations received after June 14 will be $18, by mail or at the race. Last year's proceeds helped to pay for a mission trip to Haiti. Funds raised this year will help with expenses for a stateside missions trip in the fall.
The Youngsville Bicentennial Committee will be hosting a Bicentennial Bingo at the Youngsville Fire Hall on Saturday, June 30 from 4 to 8 p.m. to benefit the Bicentennial Celebration Weekend of June 28-30 in 2013.
ROY Store Sale
The Revitalization of Youngsville's resale shop next to the Allegheny Artistry in Youngsville will hold a special Friday sale from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. All proceeds benefit the ROY community projects. The store is full of craft and sewing supplies, along with numerous household items.
The resale shop will be open for the Youngsville Community Yard Sale Days on July 19-21.
