Trevor Potts of Russell has been named to the dean's list at Gannon University, Erie, for the spring 2012 semester. To be named to the list, a student must earn a grade average of 3.5 or better. Potts is the son of Jennifer Potts and the late Thomas Potts.

St. Mary's College of Maryland has announced that Brandon Bimber of Russell graduated with a major in biology on May 12.

Chelsey M. Anderson of Pittsfield, a student at Gannon University, Erie, will serve as an adviser for the University's Summer Orientation program. She is the daughter of James and Lazetta Reynolds and is a graduate of Youngsville High School and is a junior science major at Gannon. Orientation advisers are current Gannon University students who have volunteered to assist the office of New Student Services with preparing and administering the university's summer orientation program.

The following local students were named to the spring semester dean's list at Penn College: Cole M. Cerra, Warren, associate of applied science, forest technology; Robert J. Forbes, Warren, bachelor of science, welding and fabrication engineering technology; John L. Jarzab, Warren, bachelor of science, information technology: network specialist concentration; James M. Lundberg, Warren, bachelor of science, electronics and computer engineering technology.

The following students graduated from Penn College after the spring semester: Nicholas A. Anderson, Warren, bachelor of science, welding and fabrication engineering technology, cum laude; Cole M. Cerra, Warren, associate of applied science, forest technology; Robert J. Forbes, Warren, bachelor of science, welding and fabrication engineering technology, cum laude; Robert J. Forbes, Warren, certificate, welding, distinction; James M. Lundberg, Warren, bachelor of science, electronics and computer engineering technology; and Mark R. Risinger, Warren, associate of applied science, culinary arts technology.

Samuel Lucas and Shannon Williams, recent graduates Youngsville High School, have both been awarded a Foster McCarl Jr. Scholarship by the Mechanical Contractors Association of Northwest Pennsylvania. Sam is the son of Jane and Bernie Lucas of Youngsville. He has been accepted to Penn State University, University Park Campus where he plans on majoring in mechanical engineering and petroleum engineering. Shannon is the daughter of Daniel and Terry Williams of Irvine. She has been accepted to Drexel University in Philadelphia where she plans to major in mechanical engineering. Recipients are well rounded individuals with involvement in their communities, have outstanding academic performance and are leaders in their school. In their essays, they answered the question "How has Mechanical Contracting improved the quality of life in Northwest Pennsylvania?"
