The Good News Church welcomes new pastor

James D. Witherington Jr. is the new pastor at Good News Community Church. The Rev. Witherington has been in ministry for more than 35 years. He has served on multiple church staffs in various ministry positions and has been senior pastor of two churches. He holds a master of divinity degree from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri, and a bachelor of science degree in history from Union University in Jackson, Tenn. He also completed five units of clinical pastoral education and recently concluded more than five years of service as a hospice chaplain. He is happily married to his wife, Barbara, who is employed at Heritage Green Skilled Nursing Facility in Greenhurst, N.Y., as a social worker. She holds degrees in social work and psychology from State University of New York, Fredonia. The Witheringtons reside in Lakewood, N.Y., and are the parents of four children and grandparents of two.

Good News Community Church is a member of the conservative Congregational Christian Conference (4 Cs). Sunday worship and children's church is at 11 a.m.
