DeFrees Gun Exhibit refreshed

The Wilder Museum of Warren County History held a special workshop to create a more informative exhibit for the Joseph H. DeFrees gun collection. The museum is located at 51 Erie Ave., Irvine, and is open to the public on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. Joseph DeFrees was a leader in the community and an avid gun collector. The DeFrees gun collection holds several 1830s French Dueling pistols along with several other unique antique guns. Volunteers who participated in the workshop were, from left, Skip Trumbull and Rodger Shattuck, gun curators for the museum; Rich Sheriff, new volunteer; Laurie Sherriff, Golden Living Center liaison to the Warren County Historical Society; Owen Trumbull, new volunteer; and Cynthia DeChano, genealogist and member of the historical society's board of directors.
