The Meadville Odd Fellows Home of Western Pennsylvania Board of Directors presented Citizenship Awards of $500 each during May and June to several students including Cassandra Hettenbaugh-Warren County Technical School. Each recipient was selected by a school committee based on a "B" average in a technology field, involvement in school/community activities and acceptance to continuing education or employment.

Danielle Oaks of Sugar Grove, whose parents are Larry and Vikki Oaks, plans to enroll at Edinboro University in September. Her activities and organizations at Eisenhower Middle/High school included choir, Fantasia, yearbook staff, Spanish Club, book club, and district and regional chorus. She plans to participate in collegiate choir.

Cale M. Trisket graduated form Edinboro University on May 12 with a bachelor of arts degree in sociology. While attending Edinboro, he was a member of Theta Chi and served as secretary of the fraternity for two years. He is currently an account manager with Healthcare Services Group, Inc. working out of New Wilminton. He is the son of Gary and Nancy Trisket of Warren and a 2007 graduate of Warren Area High School.

Ashley Church graduated magna cum laude from Mercyhurst University with a bachelor of science degree in biology and a minor in chemistry. While attending Mercyhurst, she was an active member of Tri-Beta (biology honor society), Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society, chemistry club, astronomy club, and a member of the Laker Shaker dance team. She was also a research assistant for three years and attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Science Conference in Allentown this year to present her ongoing research project. Church has been accepted into Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine for the upcoming year. She is the daughter of Todd and Debbie Church of Russell.

Jenna Still, daughter of Jeff and Jeanette Still of North Warren, has been accepted at Clarion University for the fall semester. A 2012 graduate of Warren Area High School, Still has been active in the art club for four years, serving as secretary for two years. She participated in French club, soccer team, the prom committee her junior year, and was also a Golden Dragon recipient. Outside of school, she was a dancer at Linda Dies Dance Unlimited for 13 years. She has enjoyed going on two mission trips with the North Warren Presbyterian Church, with another being planned for later this July. She has helped with the church's summer camps, "Kid's Stuff" programs, and various other events. Still received the Blair and Jamie Woodburn-Retterer Educational scholarships. Because of her love of children, she plans to pursue a dual major in the fields of early childhood development and special education.

Nine students enrolled in the St. Bonaventure University/Warren County School District Dual Enrollment Program gained dean's list recognition for their work second semester. In order to be eligible for the dean's list, the student must be enrolled in 12 credits or more and have a grade average of 3.25 or higher. Students honored are Conner Clendenen, son of Daryl and Michele Clendenen of Russell; Matt Eernisse, son of Ken and Deb Eernisse of Russell; Addison Gee, son of David and Wendy Gee of Warren; Sam Lucas, son of Jane and Bernie Lucas of Youngsville; Mollie Marsh, daughter of Dr. Lucinda Marsh of Russell; Jaylyn Orwig, daughter of Tom and Karen Orwig of Pittsfield; Nick Papalia, son of John and Janice Papalia of Warren; Brooke Shaffer, daughter of Shelly Hoffman and Mark Shaffer; and Rebecca Swanson, daughter of Jim and Tammy Swanson of Warren. Two of the students, Mollie Marsh and Matt Eernisse, had a grade average of 4.0 for second semester.

Megan Elizabeth Eighmey, daughter of Christopher and Lynda Eighmey of Pittsfield, graduated in a June 7 ceremony from the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf in Pittsburgh. Eighmey received the Parent-Staff Organization Award for Leadership, Effort and Acheivement which included a monetary gift of $250. She also was named to the Distinquished Honor Roll. As a member of the Girls Athletic Association, Eighmey participated in WPSD sports during her middle and high school years including volleyball, basketball, track and softball. She received honors for best offensive player in basketball for 2012. Eighmey plans to attend the Community College of Allegheny County in Monroeville this fall.

Katie Diane Gray has been accepted to the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford for the fall 2012 term. She graduated cum laude from Warren Area High School on June 8 and was recently inducted into the National Honor Society. While in high school, Gray was involved with Madrigals, A Capella, the all county musicals and Youth Connection. She is the daughter of Doug and Dawna Gray.

Benjamin Wilston of Sugar Grove and Christine Huey of Warren were named to the spring dean's list at Kent State University. To be named to the dean's list, full-time students must achieve a grade average of 3.40 or greater and must have completed 12 or more letter-graded credit hours.

Katlin McAvoy of Warren was named to the Gettysburg College dean's list for the spring semester. Students with a quality point average of 3.60 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) for a semester's work are placed on the college's dean's honor list.

Garrett Fiscus of Russell, is studying "Using the Yeast Signal Sequence Trap to Study the Grapevine Secretome." Kaysie Foust of Warren, is studying "Molecular Identification of Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms Associated with Genetic Predisposition for Diabetes." Daniel Wiltsie of Warren, is studying "Pilot Study to Establish Next Generation DNA Sequencing as a Tool to Assess Species Diversity in Presque Isle Bay."

Three local Mansfield University students have been named to to spring 2012 dean's list. To be named to the list, a student must attend the university full-time and attain a grade average of 3.5 or better for the semester. Amanda Trimpey of Pittsfield was named to the president's list at Mansfield University. To be named to the president's list, a student must attend the university full-time and attain a perfect 4.0 grade average for the semester.

Dr. James P. Jones graduated from the Family Medicine residency program at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, on June 15. While in residency Dr. Jones served as chief academic resident for the 2011/2012 academic year. Dr. Jones also received board certification in family medicine from the American Board of Family Medicine. He has been selected to be the Brigade Surgeon for the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks Hawaii. Dr. Jones is a 1985 graduate of Youngsville High School, and the son of Jennie and Clarence Jones, both of Youngsville.

Sarah Bowley of Barnes has been named to the dean's list at Gannon University for the spring 2012 semester. A 2010 graduate of Sheffield Area High School, she is enrolled in the physician assistant program.
