Dear editor:
I cannot understand how anyone could have allowed the current mess at Beaty Middle School to occur.
How could the Project Manager not have known that the necessary permits and requirements were not in place so that bids could be called for? How could our City Council and our School Board not check these issues to ensure they were being accounted for PRIOR to the start of this project?
From even the most basic of observations, this is gross negligence and incompetence.
Anyone and everyone directly involved with this project should be fired immediately! We as taxpayers should demand it! We have sat back and watched our School Board deal us one rotten deal after another for the past several years - sometimes hiding them in the disguise of a closed door session.
We have also watched our City Council and other local organizations turn our downtown into the laughing stock for this area. How can we sit back and allow these situations to continue? If we do not call for a full accounting and the resulting individual(s) to be held responsible, then we are the ones who should be ashamed of ourselves.
