Gum

July 6, 2012
The Times Observer

Dear editor,

I am speaking on the behalf of many when I state "Gum chewers need to be considerate and dispose of their ABC gum properly". It needs to be disposed of in trash containers, not on the sidewalk, street, under a table or stuck on a wall.

I am a motorcycle enthusiast and have found gum stuck to the bottom of my boot and tracked into my workplace, where it sticks to the floor and requires quite a bit of effort to clean up by myself or the Housekeeping Department.

We could all go on and on about improper disposal of many things such as cigarette butts, candy wrappers and the like. The bottom line is making a conscientious considerate decision to dispose of our personal use items properly.

Not to show my age, but how many of you remember the American Indian standing by the roadway with a tear in his eye because of all the trash strewn along the roadside? How many anti-polution commercials do you see on television today? Electronic waste has quickly become a very large concern and will soon be the forefront of a very large clean-up effort. Keep America Beautiful.

Please be respectful to each other and the planet in which we live.

Thank you for doing your part,

John Geiger

Warren
