Talk about going out with a bang.
On the final night of the Valley Girls Slow Pitch Softball League season, Mike's Townline Service handed league champion Park Avenue Motor Car its only loss of the season with an 18-12 triumph.
The winners were helped by a 4-for-5 effort from Savanna Cochran and a nine-run outburst in the fifth inning. Kristen Sheldon tripled for the winners and winning pitcher Ashley VanGelder doubled. Corrie Bednez doubled and tripled in the loss for Park Avenue.
After the upset of Park Avenue, Mike's finished the season with a 22-3 rout of Styles Unlimited. Desiree Bennett doubled and homered and Margia Scott was a perfect 5-for-5 for Mike's.
CTI's Stephanie Arthurs and Kristy Kuzminski each smacked a pair of home runs, helping their team to a 23-2 victory over Results Rehab.
Arthurs was 4-for-4 and also had a double and Kuzminski added a triple to her evening. Kuzminski, Kathleen Creek and Jen Jones all finished with three hits for the league's second-place team.
