After an extensive search of candidates by its board of directors, Family Services of Warren County has named Michelle Williams as executive director.
Williams, who will begin work on Aug. 26, brings to the position a broad range of experience in mental health and substance abuse services.
"Michelle's combination of strong leadership skills and background in social work fits well with the mission and future plans of Family Services," said board president Phil DeFabio about the announcement. "Fostering the health and well-being of families is her main priority."
Williams has coordinated and directed mental health services with the Resource Center in Jamestown, N.Y., since 2009. Prior to that, she provided mental health and chemical dependency services at WCA Hospital in Jamestown. She is also an adjunct professor in human services at Jamestown Community College.
Williams holds a Master of Social Work and a B.A. in Health and Human Services from SUNY Buffalo. She also is a graduate of Jamestown Community College.
She resides with her family in Frewsburg, N.Y. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, camping and boating at the Allegheny Reservoir.
Williams steps into the position vacated by Gary Lester, who has moved onto Leadership Warren County and various volunteer positions around the community.
