Humane Society co-ed champions
The Curtis Contracting Catfish took first place in the co-ed bracket of the 2013 Mike Kolos Humane Society Slowpitch Softball Tournament. Betts racked up the runs in a pair of Richard T. Betts Rec Modified League playoff wins Wednesday night, defeating Crescent Beer by a score of 13-2 and Nic-L-Inn, 17-7. In the first game of the night, Chris Yost led the way with four hits, including a triple and home run, and Preston McMeans fell a triple shy of the cycle.
Against Nic-L-Inn, B.J. Salerno had two home runs, Yost doubled and tripled, and Darren Cummings, Rick Eaton, and Casey Moyer added two hits each for Betts.
The double-elimination playoffs continue on Wednesday at Betts Park.
