Christopher William Hoffman, 109 West Fifth Avenue, Warren, entered guilty pleas to two counts of criminal mischief. He was not prosecuted for 53 other counts of criminal mischief, eight counts of driving on roadways laned for traffic, 13 counts of reckless driving, 48 counts of accident involving damage to unattended vehicle or property, five counts of immediate notice of accident to police departments and one count of operation of a vehicle without an official certification of inspection.
Police said Hoffman "purposely ran over... 47 traffic signs belonging to PennDOT, Elk Township, and Pine Grove Township" between 11 p.m. April 20 and 8 a.m. April 21.
The signs were located at Route 59 and Keenan Street in Mead Township, Cobham Park and Scandia roads in Glade Township, Roper Hollow and Scandia Road, and Roper Hollow and Cornplanter Road in Elk Township, Akeley and Cable Hollow roads, Liberty Street, and along Conewango Street in Pine Grove Township.
He was accused of "purposely backing his vehicle into a building that housed restrooms at Chapman State Park" and "running over traffic signs on Chapman Dam Road and on State Route 6 in the Borough of Clarendon" between 11 and 11:30 p.m. May 5."
