It was time to move on. No hard feelings.
In fact, nothing but Goodwill.
The Goodwill store at Warren Mall is moving.
Tuesday is the last day the current location will be open, and the last of a two-day moving sale.
"Tomorrow is our last day here," Assistant Manager Jen Willings said on Monday. "We will re-open on the 31st... tentatively."
Renovations at the new home of the store - 1079 Market St. Ext., the former Rite Aid - are underway.
"They're redoing the whole store," Willings said.
"We're the last store in our region to get remodeled," Manager Addell Aikins said. "We're really excited about it."
The two locations have about the same amount of floor space.
The store in the mall had been open for five or six years. "I think we're just looking for a better opportunity," Aikins said of the move.
"I'm assuming there's more traffic there," Willings said.
The moving sale is intended to keep store personnel from having to move inventory. "We're hoping that we move a lot of product," Willings said.
But, one way or the other, they expect to offer new inventory.
The goods at the store will probably be moved to Goodwill Industries' processing plant in Falls Creek and new items will be chosen for the new Warren location.
"We'll have new inventory," Willings said. "That's exciting for our customers."
Donations are no longer being accepted at the mall. They will be accepted at the 1079 Market St. location from now on, including the period before the new store is open.
