Two Warren men are in the Chautauqua County, N.Y., jail following their arrest Tuesday morning in Jamestown, N.Y., on drug and vehicular charges.
According to Capt. Robert Samuelson of the Jamestown Police Department, police stopped a vehicle on Foote Avenue in the city at about 8:40 a.m. for failing to signal a turn. The operator of the car, Robert W. Proctor, 60, of Warren was determined to not have a driver's license. While he was being interviewed, the officers observed a bag of white powder lying on the floor of the vehicle.
Police tested the substance and determined that it was more than half an ounce of cocaine, Samuelson said.
Proctor and his passenger, Anthony L. Russell, 42, of Warren were taken into custody.
Proctor was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd and 4th degree (felony), Criminal possession of a Hypodermic Instrument, Aggravated Unlicensed Operator 2nd degree and failing to signal a lane change.
Russell was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd and 4th Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument.
Both men were transported to Jamestown City Jail, where they were arraigned and then transported to the Chautauqua County Jail.
