Daniel J. Black, 63, of Grunderville, Rd., Warren, died at 6:25 a.m. Friday (August 23, 2013) at UPMC Hamot.
He was born in Jamestown, N.Y. on September 6, 1949 the son of James and Marguerite Leichtenberger Black, Youngsville.
Dan was the plant manager at Chautauqua Woods in Dunkirk, N.Y. for fifteen years. He was previously employed as an engineer at the former Crawford Furniture and had also worked at Jamestown Sterling.
From 1968 to 1974, he served with Company A., First Battalion, 112th Infantry National Guard in Warren.
Dan is survived by his wife, Candice Early Black, whom he married on August 3, 1974 in Youngsville, a son, Joshua (Amber) Black, Smethport, Pa., a brother, Carl (Kathy) Black , Sugar Grove, four sisters, Jean Benedict, Pittsfield, Susan (Raymond) Griffin, Youngsville, Jennie Hornstrom, Pleasantville and Molly (Francis) Hodges, Grand Valley, brother in law, Rodney C. Early, Ashville, N.Y., sister in law, Dr. Amy Early, Buffalo, N.Y., father in law, Henry Early, Warren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
Visitation will not be observed.
