PennDOT workers remove a culvert on National Forge Road at Wilder Park on Monday. An old, structurally-deficient concrete box culvert that carries a tributary of Brokenstraw Creek under the road will be replaced over the next month. According to PennDOT, the new seven-foot-long hybrid box culvert was precast by Warren County maintenance personnel over the winter while they were not busy with ice and snow removal. PennDOT estimated approximately 1,262 vehicles cross the bridge each day. A detour takes traffic on Routes 6 and 62. The road closure means two Warren County School District buses will have to turn around and go back down National Forge Road instead of passing through to Route 6. The replacement work is expected to be complete by the end of September.
