The menu for the week will be: Monday BBQ ham, parsley potatoes and lemon pie; Thursday, mashed potatoes and hamburger gravy and cake for dessert; Fridays buffet will feature pizza, pudding for dessert.

Wednesday will be Senior Night Out with dinner and shopping at Wal-Mart, join us for some fun with friends.Wednesday is also having the TAWC bus pick you up at your door for doctor appointments, shopping, banking, lunch etc. within the Warren area, you must have a reservation for the bus to pick you up starting at 8:30 a.m., call 968-5667. Thursday we feature Bingo after lunch, and Friday bridge and card games in the afternoon.
We were awarded a check for participating in Activities for Prime Time Health, a state-run program for senior centers. We offer blood sugar testing, blood pressure testing educational health visits and our exercise gals have faithfully been attending for over 10 years now.
We were invited to participate in Blair & Bingo's Fashion show at the ACC on Wednesday Sept. 18, We scheduled a bus to pick you up for this exciting annual event. Arlene California will represent our Center for the Fashion Show with a fashion from Blair.
We are looking forward to our Spaghetti & meatball dinner with home made desserts on Tuesday, Sept. 24, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. by donation and take-outs will be available.

On Aug. 18, Kane Community Hospital (KCH) hosted its 18th annual golf outing at Kane Country Club. Sixty golfers participated in the scramble-style tournament. Major event sponsors included UPMC Hamot, UPMC Health Plan, and Northwest Savings Bank. The event raised more than $9,000. Tournament proceeds benefit capital improvement projects at KCH, including the organization's current cafeteria renovations.
Mark Papalia, director of operations at KCH and tournament chairman, said he is grateful to the sponsors, golfers, and volunteers, as well as staff at Kane Country Club and Zook Motors, Inc. for their support. "The success of this tournament each year results from the efforts of so many individuals and the generosity of several of KCH's partners," Papalia said. "My committee is in the early planning stages for next year's tournament and I am looking forward to what I know will be another successful event."
The board of directors of the Sheffield Cemetery Association will be meeting on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 3 p.m. at the Sheffield Cemetery for the fall on-site meeting. All board members are encouraged to attend; if you cannot attend contact the secretary at 968-3906.
The supervisors and boosters thank all who helped out this week with their volunteer time in the concession stand, on the field as chain gang, the EMTs, the Fire Police and in the ticket booths. All proceeds of the concession stand are put right back into the sports complex. If you are interested in helping out, the next home game is Sept. 14 and the Sheffield Rotary will be manning the concession stand and they can use your help. The Speeder or MOW (Maintenance of Way) arrived at the Depot courtesy of Jim and Sean Mead after it was acquired from Sloan Cornell of Knox Kane Railroad. It was rebuilt at Mead Oil with help from Simo, John Buck, all the employees of Mead Oil and Sheffield Depot Preservation Society. It was built in the early 1950s it's a Fairmont A6 Speeder. It is now in its home at the Depot.
From Friday, Sept. 13 through Sunday, Sept. 15 the intersection of 948/666 and Route 6 will be closed for the road construction of new rails and blacktop at this intersection. There will be a detour at Route 6 and Horton Avenue.
Several changes will be taking place with the collection of real estate taxes in Sheffield Township. Lorie Corbin will not have office hours at her house this year. She will now have her office hours at the Sheffield Township Library located at 20 Leather St.
Office hours at the library will be as follows: Sept. 21, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Sept. 28 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Sept. 23, 25, 30 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Payments not received during office hours may be mailed to Lorie Corbin, tax collector, PO Box 997, Sheffield, PA 16347. This change will allow easier access for those needing the use of the ramp. Payments will no longer be received at the home of the tax collector, only at the library and only during the hours listed. Do not give your taxes to the township librarian as she is not to collect them, only the tax collector.
