Eisenhower fans had a Homecoming to celebrate after the Knights defeated Iroquois, 42-18, Friday night at Eisenhower High School.
Ike improves to 2-1 and 2-0 in region, with a trip to Mercyhurst Prep on next week's schedule.
"We came out and out-hit them from the get-go," said Eisenhower head coach Jim Penley. "Other than one mistake on a dive play, the first half we had total command. Iroquois is a quality opponent, so to me, I was very happy. For the first time this year, we saw our team come out and play to its potential in the first half. We laid it on them. These guys played lights-out."

Eisenhower quarterback Rob Wilston evades Iroquois defenders on his way toward the end zone Friday night during Eisenhower’s homecoming game at Eisenhower High School. The Knights went on to win, 42-18.
The Knights opened up the first quarter with an onside kick recovery to keep Iroquois from taking advantage of their coin toss win. The opening kickoff set the tone for the rest of the game as Eisenhower recovered three more kickoffs.
Eisenhower quarterback Rob Wilston kicked off the scoring with a four-yard run to put the Knights up 6-0 with Grant Venman making his first of six successful extra point attempts of the night. Less than a minute later, Jarrett Johnson caught a 48-yard pass from Wilston to put Eisenhower up 14-0.
Iroquois junior Brandon Roda ran the ball 60 yards to bring Iroquois with in eight, but the second quarter was a scoring clinic hosted by Eisenhower.
Seniors Alex Johnson and Bryce Garris ran for a 28-yard touchdown, and a six-yard touchdown, respectively, before Louie Head caught a 37-yard pass from Wilston for another Eisenhower touchdown.
Alex Johnson picked up the final Knights touchdown of the night on an eight-yard run to put Eisenhower up 42-6 going into halftime.
"My hope is that we have more athletes than our opponents do," Penley said. "Right now, we're getting a lot of people the football and they're doing great things with it. It's an unselfish team that just wants to put points on the board and play. And, right now, our athletes are doing a great job, and, to be honest, our big boys did a really good job blocking tonight. If we keep doing that, we can be very successful this year."
