Helga Laibacher, 68, of Youngsville, passed away Tuesday September 24, 2013 at the Cleveland Clinic due to complications from heart surgery.
Helga was born in Bruchkobel, Germany on Jan. 29, 1945, the daughter of the late Anna and Hans Laibacher. Helga came to the USA in April of 1963 and took on her US citizenship in November 1973. In her heart though, she was truly a German, who loved her German heritage. She took many, many trips to her homeland over the years, visiting family and friends, and had many visitors / family visiting here.
Helga graduated from Bruchkobel, and then Hanau's Business School. While in Germany she worked with her parents at their family restaurant "Zum Waldblick", which she enjoyed. She worked for 36 1/2 years at Blair Corp., where she worked as a purchasing packaging mgr, a job she really enjoyed. She made friends easily within the company and outside and she has stayed in touch with many of them over the years.
Helga loved her flowers, and photography. She made her own birthday cards, and loved the outdoors. In past years, she enjoyed downhill skiing, biking, knitting and crocheting. She was actively involved in the ROY (Revitalization of Youngsville) organization, where she volunteered countless hours to help make Youngsville a better place. She was also involved with Youngsville's Corn Fest. She loved to dance, swim, and loved to visit friends at the Rouse Home and with those she had met over the years that truly didn't have anyone to chat with.
Helga is survived by two daughters, Jenie (Elder) Orn and her Husband Vic, of Sellersville, Pa. and Elke Elder of Warren, Pa., four grandchildren, Erik Graham, Craig Orn, Krystle Ransom and Cailan Orn, one great grandchild, Kayden Parker, two brothers, Herbert Laibacher and his long time companion Elfi Schneider, and Hans Laibacher, 3 sisters, Hannelore Gericke and her Husband Jurgen, Elvira Gipner and her Husband Herby, and Angelika Laibacher, as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, all in Germany, and her companion John Shaughnesy of Warren.
