A Pine Grove Township man has been charged with nearly 180 total counts, including over 100 felonies, stemming from alleged sexual abuse of two victims between 2003 and 2010.
Daniel Lynn Brecht, 62, Priest Hollow Road, Russell, was arraigned before District Justice Laura Bauer on Tuesday and placed in the Warren County Jail after he was unable to post bail.
Bail was set at $100,000 in each case.
Warren-based state police arrested Brecht after an investigation into him "assaulting a known female between the ages of 11 and 18, between 2003 and early 2010," according to a press release.
In that case, Brecht was charged with 14 counts of felony rape, 10 counts of felony statutory sexual assault, 14 counts of felony sexual assault, 21 counts of felony aggravated indecent assault, six counts of felony aggravated indecent assault (victim under 13 years of age), six counts of felony indecent assault (victim under 13 years of age), 39 counts of felony corruption of minors and one felony count of endangering welfare of children.
He was also charged with 37 misdemeanor counts of indecent assault and 20 misdemeanor counts of indecent assault (victim under 16 years of age).
According to police, in a parallel case, he was also charged for assaulting another victim between the ages of 10 and 12 during the same time span." The gender of that victim was not disclosed.
In that case, Brecht has been charged with two counts of felony indecent assault (victim under 13 years of age), two counts of misdemeanor indecent assault, and one felony count each of endangering the welfare of children and corruption of minors.
Online court records indicate that Brecht has no prior criminal record.
His preliminary hearing for both incidents is slated 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30.
