Probation violation. Officers of the Warren County Adult Probation Department, with assistance from Conewango Township Police and security officers from Wal-Mart, arrested Jonathan Whipple, 29, Sheffield, on charges of violation of probation on Oct 19. Whipple, who was originally placed on probation on the charge of theft by unlawful taking, was taken into custody by probation officers on a supervisor's warrant after being caught attempting to shop-lift at Wal-Mart. He was committed to the Warren County Jail pending further court action.
Retail theft. Conewango Township Police were dispatched on Oct. 20, for a reported retail theft at Wal-Mart. According to police, loss prevention personnel said Corey Adam Wells, Jamestown, N.Y., took $293.49 worth of merchandise without paying for it. Police said they recovered all merchandise and Wells is being charged with one count summary retail theft. Charges have been filed with District Justice Laura Bauer pending further court action, according to police.
Retail theft. Conewango Township Police were dispatched on Oct. 20 for a reported retail theft at Wal-Mart. According to police, loss prevention personnel said Jimi Jo Sobczak, Jamestown, N.Y., concealed $684.70 worth of merchandise without paying for it. Police said loss prevention personnel recovered all merchandise and Sobczak was charged with one count felony retail theft and one count defiant trespass. Police said Sobczak was taken to the on-call district justice and was placed in the Warren County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail pending further court action.
Retail theft. Loss prevention personnel at Lowes's contacted Conewango Township Police on May 21 concerning a string of suspected false returns that had been completed by Jennifer McIntyre, 19, Salamanca, N.Y. Police said following an investigation it was found that on Feb. 20, McIntyre had taken $258.30 worth of merchandise without paying. McIntyre was charged with one misdemeanor count of the first degree retail theft, according to police.
Retail theft/defiant trespass. According to Conewango Township Police, loss prevention personnel at Wal-Mart on Sept 9 apprehended Cassandra Morales, 22 Kennedy, N.Y., and Maurita Shaver, 27, Jamestown, N.Y., after they were observed returning stolen property for a gift card in the amount of $47.20 and then both taking a total of $188.41 worth of merchandise without paying. Police said Shaver and Morales were both charged with retail theft, conspiracy to commit retail theft and theft by deception. Police said Shaver further charged with defiant trespass after having received notice from Wal-Mart for trespass, according to police.
Bench warrant/failure to appear. Warren County Sheriff's deputies, with assistance from Sheffield Township Police, arrested Ricky A. Barr, 45, Sheffield, on Sept 21 on a bench warrant issued by District Justice Laura Bauer. According to police, Barr failed to appear for a court hearing regarding driving under suspension charge. He was arraigned by District Justice George Gregory, and was incarcerated in the Warren County Jail.
