Warren Women's Christian Connection held its "Annual Autumn Auction" luncheon recently. Table centerpieces were pumpkin decorations; favors were autumn leaves.
Speaker MariLou Johnson of Lockhaven, Pa., said she doesn't like to be lost. As a child, she learned Christian memory verses and that the "wager of sin is death." However, she liked doing things her own way until she realized that "Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Light." Johnson asked Jesus to come into her heart, and "He became her special friend," she said. As a young woman, she felt "love conquers all." God has helped her find peace and security in a stressful, unpredictable world.
Geri Fox of Warren conducted the annual auction with a sense humor. Proceeds will aid military families and the Village Ministries. David Ford of Jamestown, N.Y., sang songs that touched everyone's hearts.
Currently, the Connection writes notes of encouragement to servicepersons. The Connection meets on the second Tuesday of every month. All women are welcome to this non-denominational Christian gathering that is affiliated with Stonecroft Ministries.
