Lance Michael Harrington, 51, of Williamsburg, VA. and Delray Beach, FL., and formerly of Warren, PA. passed away Friday, November 29, 2013 in Hollywood, FL. after an extended illness. He was born June 10, 1962 in Warren, PA. son of Robert J. Harrington and the late Ina C. Safford Harrington. At the age of 8 until 10, he lived in Waterloo, Belgium France, where he went to elementary school and learned fluent French. He enjoyed traveling extensively, especially Belgium, France, Italy, Germany, Monaco, England, Luxenbourg, Portugal, Taiwan, Holland and Canada. Lance was a 1980 graduate of Warren Area High School. He earned two degrees, a Bachelor of Arts in Economic and a Masters of Business Administration from the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, VA. Lance had multiple interests, particularly all levels of Business, Politics involving public policy, economic development, recreational sporting activities, yard landscaping and a lifelong love of dogs. He recently established a recovery home for men in Delray Beach, FL. His college roommate shared that Lance was extremely brilliant and, he had an unusual, but very loving way of caring for people in his life.
He is survived by his son whom Lance idolized, Robert Scott Harrington of Portsmouth, VA., his father, Robert J. Harrington of Warren, PA., his brother, Robert J. Harrington, Jr. of Boca Raton, FL, 1 Aunt Betty Harrington of Warren, PA., 1 Uncle John Harrington, III and his wife, Leona of Newark, Del., several cousins including Dr. Jack Harrington of Warren, PA., his faithful dog, Sampson, a 250 pound mastiff.
Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, Pa. on Thursday, December 5, 2013 from 6 to 8 P.M. A Vigil Service will be conducted at 5:45 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Friday, December 6, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph R.C. Church, 600 Pennsylvania Avenue West, Warren, PA. Fr. Richard J. Toohey, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph R.C. Cemetery.
